A couple of months ago, the HVAC unit in my home started malfunctioning. The temperature inside my home soared to over eighty degrees Fahrenheit, even though my air conditioning system ran nonstop. After inspecting my air conditioning unit, my knowledgeable HVAC contractor recommended I purchase a new system. He discussed the pros and cons of installing different sizes of HVAC units with me. After considering my HVAC contractor’s advice, I decided to purchase a three and a half ton HVAC unit. Shortly after my HVAC contractor installed my new air conditioning unit, my house started feeling more comfortable. 4 Tips To Help With The Fall AC Maintenance That You Will Want To Start Doing Soon

by Jamie Shaw

Even though there are still a few days of hot summer weather left, you are going to want to start planning for AC maintenance. Doing HVAC maintenance now will help you prepare for another cool winter and ensure your AC is ready to use again next summer. Here are some tips to help with the AC maintenance that you will want to start doing now:

1. Filter Changes Through the Last of The Summer Heat

When the weather starts to change, but it is still hot outside, it is more important to change your air filter. Pollen, mold spores and other debris get trapped in the filter or make it into the HVAC ducts in your home, which causes reduced airflow and poor air quality. Therefore, it is important to change your air filters more frequently during this time of the year.

2. Cleaning the AC Condensing Unit and Winterizing for Cold Weather

In addition to your air filter, the AC condensing unit is also more vulnerable during late summer and early fall months. This is a time when you will want to regularly clean the outdoor unit to keep it free of debris as the hot weather comes to an end. When you finally do not need the AC anymore, take the time to winterize it and protect it from the cold weather to come.

3. Preparing Your Furnace for The Cold Weather to Come

As the weather begins to get cooler, you will soon need the heating in your home. Make sure to do an inspection of your furnace and clean components to get ready for winter. Turn the heating on at least once before the cold weather arrives to test the system and allow the dust and particles to be blown out of any ducts that were not used during the summer months.

4. Have Your Furnace Serviced and Minor Repairs Done To Prevent Winter Failures

Before you start using your heating, it is a good idea to have an HVAC service due seasonal maintenance. They will be able to do routine servicing and inspection to ensure you are ready for the winter months. This is also when you will want to have any small repairs done for your heating.

These are some tips that will help with the fall AC maintenance that you will want to start doing now. If you need help with AC maintenance or repairs before winter arrives, contact an HVAC service like All Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning to ensure your systems are ready for whatever weather comes.
